1991 appointed to chair at the University of Salzburg. From 1982 head of the HDZ at the University of Dortmund. 1976 professor in HDZ, initially responsible for establishing the centre. 1976 appointed to chair in Dortmund. 1968 assistant at the Sociological Seminar of the University of Gießen, then lecturer. 1966-67 research assistant at the Battelle Institute in Frankfurt. 1972 PhD at the University of Gießen. 1968-72 PhD study at the University of Gießen: social psychology and political science. 1961-66 sociology at the University of Frankfurt. 1960-61 macroeconomics at the University of Mainz.
