CoRe Office | Encouraging Networking - Supporting Exchange

Promote Networking – Enhance Knowledge-Exchange

CoRe | The central office of the network is our Coordination and Research Office. Here, annual conferences and periodical workshops on gender research are developed, prepared and carried out. The work of the Coordination and Research Centre is accompanied by a cross-university scientific Advisory Board made up of members of the network. Since August 2017, the Coordination and Research Centre has been a central operational unit at the University of Duisburg-Essen. This ensures the continuity of the coordination and research tasks, long-term planning and career prospects for the employed scientists.

History | From Bielefeld via Dortmund to Essen. After the first CoRe office was established at the University of Bielefeld in 1995 with the spokesperson Prof. Dr. Ursula Müller, the network moved its office to Dortmund University of Technology in 1998. From there it was led by Prof. Dr. Ruth Becker until the end of 2009. Since 2010 the network is located at the University of Duisburg-Essen, where Prof. Dr. Anne Schlüter was its spokesperson until 2017.

Spokesperson | The current spokesperson of the network is Prof. Dr. Katja Sabisch (University of the Ruhr, Bochum).

Coordinator | Since 1998 Dr. Beate Kortendiek has been working as coordinator for the network.

Main areas of work | The work of the Women's and Gender Studies Network NRW's CoRe Office is based on four pillars:

1) University and personal networking of professors and research assistants on topics of women's and gender studies
2) Institutional networking of the centres, research centres and Gender Studies programmes
3) University and science research from a gender perspective
4) Knowledge transfer and scientific editing

An important medium for information and exchange is our in-house journal. The network's own publications on women's and gender studies bring research results to the specialist public.
