CfP: Standardizing Feminist Futures? Standards, Governance, and the Politics of Equality

• The issue approaches standards not as neutral tools but as contested political technologies through which feminist futures are organized and contested.

• We welcome contributions from feminist organization studies, sociology, science and technology studies, political science, international political economy, and adjacent fields.

CfP: Transformative Feminist Pedagogies for More-than-human Futures

How can feminist pedagogies inspire and inform transformative, sustainable, and generative ways of learning, making, and living? The editors invite chapter proposals that engage with these challenges for the upcoming edited volume Transformative Feminist Pedagogies for More-than-human Futures, which will be published as part of the new ATGENDER series Gender: Theories, Troubles, Transformations with Bloomsbury. Academic and educational institutions are increasingly shaped by neoliberal restructuring, the marketisation of knowledge, and the reduction of teaching and learning to measurable outputs, products, and services. At the same time, educational spaces are witnessing a growing enthusiasm for AI-driven solutions that often reproduce technologically deterministic assumptions while sidelining creativity, care, critical reflection, and collective forms of inquiry. This volume responds to these developments by foregrounding pedagogical practices that embrace uncertainty, relationality, embodied knowledge, and experimentation. Grounded in feminist commitments to care, justice, and the transformation of gendered, sexual, colonial, and ecological relations, contributions are being seeked that reimagine education as a site of critical, collaborative, and transformative practice. The editors are interested in pedagogies that move beyond institutional and disciplinary boundaries, opening space for alternative ways of learning, teaching, and producing knowledge. Feminist, queer, decolonial, Indigenous, and other non-hegemonic approaches that engage with artistic practice, activism, community organising, environmental justice, and speculative thought are welcome. More-than-human futures are broadly understood, encompassing pedagogies that cultivate new forms of relationality across species, technologies, environments, bodies, communities, and diverse ways of knowing, while challenging normative assumptions about gender, sexuality, humanity, and social life. For this volume contributions are explicitly invited that highlight anti- and post-methodological interventions that privilege process, affect, embodiment, and slowness over standardisation and optimisation. These may include practices such as mending (needle felting, patching, darning), generative somatics (body attunement), anarchiving (artistic experimentation, improvisational collaboration, DIY skill sharing) and other process-based pedagogical practices that resist extractive models of education. Inspired by critiques of the "banking model of education" (hooks, 1994), pedagogies that cultivate collaborative, ecological, and speculative futures are aimed to be examined.

CfP: Wege aus der Care-Krise. Innovationen. Transformationen. Relationen

Tagung und Vernetzung für (Nachwuchs-)Wissenschaftler:innen

Vom 12. bis 13. November 2026 findet in der Sozialforschungsstelle an der Technischen Universität Dortmund die Tagung zum Thema „Wege aus der Care-Krise. Innovationen. Transformationen. Relationen“ statt. Der demografische Wandel stellt die öffentliche Daseinsvorsorge in Deutschland vor vielseitige Herausforderungen. Von besonderer Bedeutung ist die Entwicklung adäquater Versorgungskonzepte für ältere Menschen mit Unterstützungs- und Pflegebedarf, um den steigenden Care-Bedarf der nächsten Jahrzehnte decken zu können. Eine interdisziplinäre Analyse bestehender Handlungsansätze und innovativer Lösungen kann hierfür vielfältige Gestaltungsspielräume eröffnen. Die Frage, wie Pflege zukünftig gestaltet werden sollte, rückt Beziehungsweisen zwischen Gepflegten und Pflegenden in den Mittelpunkt – sowohl im informellen als auch im formellen Kontext. Dazu bedarf es einer kritischen Hinterfragung aktueller Versorgungsstrukturen, von Ökonomisierungstendenzen im Pflegesektor sowie des Einbezugs Gepflegter und Pflegender in die Gestaltung von Pflege- und Betreuungskonzepten. Folgende Beitragsformate sind erwünscht: Vorträge (15 Minuten + Diskussion), Praxis und Projektvorstellungen, Entwicklung von Forschungsideen sowie Posterpräsentationen. Die Arbeitssprachen der Konferenz sind Deutsch und Englisch. Reise und Unterkunftskosten werden nach Möglichkeit bezuschusst oder übernommen. CfP: Music, Gender, Climate, and the Natural World. Approaches Across Disciplines

International Conference, University of Graz

Die gegenwärtige Debatte um den Klimawandel rückt Fragen der Vulnerabilität sowie Prozesse von Destruktion, Resilienz und Regeneration von Natur und Mensch in den Mittelpunkt. Es entwickelte sich eine grundlegende Infragestellung des Verhältnisses von Mensch und Natur und der Bedarf einer Neupositionierung und Dezentrierung des Menschen. Wie tragen Musik, Kunst und künstlerische Prozesse zu einer veränderten Mensch-Natur-Beziehung bei und wie verändert eine solche Neupositionierung des Menschen unser Verständnis von Musik und Kunst sowie das Verhältnis von Kunst und Natur? Diese Fragen eines neuen Verhältnisses zwischen Mensch, Musik, Klang und Natur werden in den letzten Jahren regelmäßig in der kulturwissenschaftlich ausgerichteten Musikwissenschaft und den „Ecomusicologies“ diskutiert. Welche Querverbindungen ergeben sich daraus für Musik, ästhetische Reflexion und künstlerische Praxis? Welchen spezifischen Beitrag können Gender Studies und feministisch Perspektiven zum Verständnis dieser Zusammenhänge leisten? Wie verändert die Debatte um den Klimawandel unsere Vorstellungen von Klanglichkeit der Natur? Eine Zusammenführung von unterschiedlichen Theorien und Handlungsfeldern zu diesem Themenbereich ist das Ziel der geplanten Tagung vom 20. bis 22. Mai 2027 statt. Vorschläge für Beiträge mit Vortragstitel, Abstract (max. 300 Worte) und Kurzbiographie (max. 150 Worte) können gerne bis zum 15. CfP: Special issue of European Journal of Women’s Studies

"Women’s/Gender Studies and Contemporary Threats to Academic Cultures: International Perspectives"

As women’s and gender studies increasingly become a target of anti-gender, far-right and authoritarian politics, we see an urgent need for internationally grounded research on how these developments are reshaping academic cultures, scholarly practice, teaching and learning, and the place of women’s and gender studies within universities across local, regional and transnational contexts. This special issue welcomes contributions that explore these transformations and reflect on the political, epistemological and ethical questions they raise. The editors ask: What differences and commonalities characterize the current conditions of women’s and gender studies across diverse contexts? What epistemological, political and ethical questions are raised by these ongoing transformations? How does the global rise of the far right shape academic governance, and how does it intersect with the neoliberal paradigm of productivity? To what extent do these developments shed new light on longstanding debates within women’s and gender studies—for example, concerning the relationship between knowledge and politics, or the possibilities and challenges of the institutionalisation of feminism? The editors are particularly interested in contributions that bring international perspectives into conversation and examine both shared challenges and contextual differences. The editors invite abstracts of 150-200 words.

CfP: Special Issue in Gender, Work & Organization

Issue “Gendered Practices at Work: (Un)intended Consequences Across Organizations and Markets”

This call for submissions to the special issue in Gender, Gender, Work & Organization—a leading platform for amplifying diverse voices and reshaping intellectual spaces—seeks to explore how gendered practices are used or misused, and what consequences they have within organizations and markets. Conceptual, empirical, and methodological papers that address (but are not limited to) the following themes are welcomed:Does the (mis)use of gendered practices in organizations and industries affect various occupations? How do women and men employees navigate gendered practices in women-dominated versus men-dominated industries? Are there differences across these industries? Which specific gendered practices do women and which ones do men (mis)use, and what consequences do these have for organizational culture? How are current discourses shaping gendered practices? Do these gendered practices influence organizational outcomes, outputs, or impacts? How does the production, reproduction, and construction of gender affect business outcomes? Are the effects the same or different within and outside organisations? Ibarra (1993) explained that organizational contexts pose unique challenges for women and minorities when it comes to creating their personal networks. Based on these arguments, how do gendered practices influence women's networks? What are the consequences of women's programs on their networks, and what are the outcomes of these programs for women and men, as well as for organizations? Who are the actors actively constructing, resisting and shaping gendered practices at the different levels? What conditions enable and which ones inhibit production, change, and use of gendered practices? Additionally, how does the portrayal of women and men in business—through media representations and policies—affect leadership stereotypes? What roles do masculine and feminine voices play concerning gendered practices? Could individuals influence and confront gendered practices? Furthermore, how do women with intersectional identities or social experiences—such as LGBTQIA++ individuals or female migrants—create, build, or construct new gendered practices? In what ways do these practices influence organizations, industries, and markets? How are gendered practices shaped within women- and men-dominated industries?
