Vita

Since September 2013, I have been Professor of Higher Education at the Center for Higher Education (zhb) of TU Dortmund University, also serving as its Deputy Director since 2018. I teach at the Department of Business and Economics.
I am a member of the editorial boards of numerous scientific journals, e.g. Higher Education Policy, Zeitschrift für Hochschulentwicklung, and Social Inclusion. Further, I am an advisory board member of the Lithuanian Higher Education Quality Assurance Agency delegated by the Lithuanian Parliament Education and Science Committee. Since 2021, I have been a member of the project selection committee of the Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre. Since 2024, I have served as a member of the Supervisory Board of the Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency Hanover (ZEvA).
In 2018, I received the Emerald Literati Award for the Highly Commended Paper in The Learning Organization international journal. In 2023, the paper 'Students as Actors of Change' received the Most Inspirational Paper Award at the EURAM Conference SIG 13 Strategic Management in Dublin.
In 2023, I was elected as a member of the Academia Europaea (Academy of Europe).

Focus of Work

My research focuses mainly on academic work and organizational transformation in the context of changing political and institutional environments. Drawing on sociological theories, I explore the issues of digitalization and university transformation, diversity and inclusion in higher education, academic work and careers, academic entrepreneurship, governance and management of higher education institutions.
