Dr. Pınar Şenoğuz is a research associate at Technical University of Applied Sciences Cologne through a tandem program preparing emerging academics for professorships at universities of applied sciences, alongside her advisory role at medica mondiale, an international women’s rights and development organization. Her current research areas focus on peace and conflict studies, gender studies and social psychology, with expertise on international social work and conflict-related sexual violence.
Dr. Şenoğuz holds a PhD Degree in Sociology (2014) from the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, Turkey. A recipient of Philipp Schwarz Fellowship (2016) and Volkswagen Foundation Fellowship (2018), she continued her academic career in Germany at the University of Göttingen and at the University of Osnabrück. In addition, Dr. Şenoğuz worked in civil society organisations advocating for citizens’ and women’s rights in Turkey as well as Germany.
She is the co-founder of Academics for Peace – Germany Association (Wissenschaftler*innen für den Frieden e.V.), a network for Turkish academics in exile.
