Habilitation in Sociology of Sport in 1995 at the German Sport University; Dr. phil. in Sociology in 1989 at the University of Cologne; Studies of Social Sciences at the University of Cologne (Germany) and University of Essex (Great Britain).

Social inequality and sport; Inclusion oand experiences of LGBTQ in sport in Europe; social construction of gender in sports (media); sports development and inclusion/exclusion of women in international perspective, Intersectional analysis of of Age(ing), gender and sport; Safe sport – sexcual violence in sport
