Director of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Women's and Gender Studies (IFF) (central institution of the University of Bielefeld) since mid-1990s. 1989 appointment to professorship of "social science-based women's studies" at the University of Bielefeld. Born in Bergisch Gladbach in 1949, grew up in Cologne.

Focus of Work

Gender-specific labour market segregation, gender and organisation, gender relations and social change, sexism in everyday life, division of labour in the family, concepts of masculinity and femininity.
