Prof. Dr. Gudrun Lachenmann, University of Bielefeld, Sociology Faculty, research focus development sociology, social anthropology, since 1992 sociology, particularly women in developing countries. Student of sociology, politics and economics at the University of Konstanz following training and professional work as a translator/interpreter, including in France and in/on developing countries.
Longstanding activity in the Africa department of the German Development Institute Berlin - policy consulting, research, postgrad. training. Development studies, particularly gender-specific.
Currently working on civil society and transformation processes, women's/peasants' movements; development policy analysis, currently on social policy, poverty orientation, international women's policy. Methodical problems of empirical research and development planning. Empirical research focus: (mainly French-speaking) West Africa: Senegal, Cameroon, etc.
