Vita

Anna-Lena Berscheid studied Communication Science, North America Studies and Political Science at the Freie Universität in Berlin from 2005 to 2009. She moved then to Austria where she started in a master's program in Gender Studies in the same year. Anna-Lena Berscheid developed an interest in Science and Technology Studies throughout her education and worked as a teaching assistant at the Department of Science and Technology Studies at the University of Vienna from 2010 to 2012. In 2012, she succesfully graduated with a master thesis on Lady Gaga with the German title: "Queer, feministisch oder einfach nur gaga? Lady Gaga als 'Gallionsfigur' eines neuen Free-Bitch-Feminism". She also worked for Prof. Sigrid Schmitz at the Gender Research Office of the University of Vienna as tutor and organizer of scientific workshops.

In the following year, Anna-Lena Berscheid moved back to Germany where she joined the team of the research project called "Degendering the Driver? Autonomous Cars, Mobility and Gender" under the guidance of Jutta Weber. From October 2014 to January 2019, she worked as junior researcher in the interdisciplinary Fortschrittskolleg "Leicht - Effizient - Mobil". There, she investigated the work of the other colleagues - coming from natural sciences and engineering - from a (Feminist) STS perspective. 

Since February 2019, Anna-Lena Berscheid works as a research assistant (postdoc) at the department for Technology & Diversity (University of Paderborn) under the guidance of Jun.-Prof. Dr. Ilona Horwath. in April 2019, she received her PhD in Sociology.

Focus of Work

Anna-Lena Berscheid is working in the field of Gender Studies and STS (Science and Technology Studies), she is also interested in the topic of gender in popular culture, discourse analysis as well as the sociology of conspiracy theories.
