1983-1986: research associate, University of Würzburg English Seminar. 1980-1984: PhD degree University of Würzburg; PhD dissertation on "Games and Politics. Aspects of Comedy in the Work of Tom Stoppard". 1974-1980: student of English, American and German literature at the University of Würzburg and Manchester University.

Teaching activities: English drama from the Renaissance to the present; (post)modern English and American literature, postcolonial literature and culture (India, Australia, Caribbean); feminist literary theory; gender studies; media studies.
Research emphases: Renaissance English drama and theatre; modern English drama, the (post)modern Anglo-American novel, postcolonial literature and culture; intertextuality; feminist literary theory; culture studies.
